Beautiful old things

On my way home from house-sitting for a week I stopped at a garage sale that claimed it had "antiques and stuff" - ha ha!

I always gravitate towards boxes of books, and I need another book like I need a hole in the head, but this one I couldn't resist.
The preface states this to be a second edition (of one of my all-time favorite books) and is dated "December 1847." It cost me a whole 50 cents. It's in some disrepair but it is 163 years old.

This little guy...

Was - unbelievably - the only thing I took home with me from the Vintage Gathering sale last weekend. I chose it because it's smaller by about half than any of the older floral frogs I've ever seen.

It cost two dollars.

Currently it's holding a photo of my brother and his girlfriend. :)

  3. Oh my god! That book! I want it!!!!!!
LOL I am so far beyond jealous! The only older book I found was a book of sheet music and it was cool but overpriced (at least for what i wanted to spend that day).

I cant stop looking at the book LMAO

  10. That's the littlest frog I have ever seen... it's barely bigger than your thumb!!! I love the designs on old book covers too. And Jane Eyre is one of my favorite tales! I recently read it again after finishing a biography about the Bronte sisters. Put a lot of things into perspective.

  12. Jane Eyre was originally published in 1847. Is it possibly a first edition?

  13. I love flower frogs. I have a metal dish pan full. That is the smallest one I have seen. I always buy them at sales if they are reasonable priced.
I think the book cover is so victorian looking.
